About the Role

The Strategic Sourcing Senior Consultant – Materials Handling Equipment & Packaging is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies across materials handling equipment (MHE), warehouse equipment, industrial packaging, pallets, returnable transport items (RTIs), and related logistics infrastructure categories. The role focuses on delivering cost optimization, supplier performance, sustainability, supply continuity, and operational efficiency while supporting manufacturing, warehousing, and distribution operations. Working closely with operations, engineering, logistics, EHS, and procurement stakeholders, the successful candidate will drive category initiatives that reduce total cost of ownership, enhance supply chain resilience, and support long-term business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and execute category strategies for materials handling equipment, packaging materials, pallets, warehouse equipment, and logistics infrastructure categories.
Deliver measurable value through cost savings, specification harmonization, supplier consolidation, demand management, and process improvement initiatives.
Conduct total cost of ownership (TCO), lifecycle cost, and benchmarking analyses to support sourcing decisions and investment planning.
Lead sourcing activities for forklifts, industrial trucks, packaging materials, pallets, RTIs, crates, totes, bins, and protective packaging solutions.
Identify, evaluate, negotiate, and manage strategic supplier relationships to ensure supply continuity, innovation, quality, and competitive advantage.
Lead end-to-end sourcing events, including RFIs, RFQs, RFPs, eAuctions, contract negotiations, and supplier selection processes.
Collaborate with warehouse operations, logistics, engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to optimize equipment utilization and packaging performance.
Drive standardization and rationalization initiatives across packaging specifications, equipment fleets, and logistics assets to improve efficiency and reduce complexity.
Establish and manage supplier performance programs through KPIs, scorecards, governance processes, business reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Support sustainability and capital investment initiatives, including packaging reduction, reusable solutions, circular economy programs, warehouse automation, and logistics infrastructure projects.

Requirements:

University degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) or equivalent professional experience.
4+ years of experience in Strategic sourcing or category management experience.
Experience with RFQs/RFPs, negotiations, and contract management.
Exposure to TCO-driven decision-making.
Strong exposure to road transport and time-critical logistics; air freight experience is a plus.
Solid understanding of Indirect Spend Categories, Pricing Mechanisms, and Cost Drivers.
Strong analytical and stakeholder communication skills.
Comfortable working in international, matrix-driven organizations.
Fluent in English, Spanish or another language is an advantage.
Execution-oriented with a strong operational mindset.
Structured, pragmatic, and resilient in fast-paced environments.

What We Offer

We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The salary range for New York City Metro Area is $100,000 to $135,000, plus individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, qualifications, skills, location and applicable employment laws.
