About the Role

The Strategic Sourcing Expert – Warehouse & 3PL Services is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies across warehousing, contract logistics, fulfillment, distribution, and third-party logistics (3PL) services. The role focuses on delivering cost optimization, operational excellence, supplier performance, and scalable logistics solutions while ensuring service quality, inventory integrity, sustainability, and compliance. Working closely with supply chain, operations, customer service, finance, and procurement stakeholders, the successful candidate will drive sourcing initiatives that enhance warehouse efficiency, strengthen supplier partnerships, and support business growth across regional and global logistics networks.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and execute category strategies for warehousing, contract logistics, fulfillment, distribution center operations, and value-added logistics services.
Lead sourcing initiatives for 3PL providers across warehousing, e-commerce fulfillment, inventory management, returns management, co-packing, and related logistics services.
Deliver measurable value through cost reduction, network optimization, supplier consolidation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Conduct market assessments, supplier evaluations, benchmarking, and total cost of ownership (TCO) analyses to support strategic sourcing decisions.
Lead end-to-end sourcing events, including RFIs, RFPs, RFQs, eAuctions, supplier negotiations, and contract management activities.
Negotiate commercial agreements, pricing structures, service level agreements (SLAs), key performance indicators (KPIs), and performance-based commercial models.
Partner with logistics operations, supply chain, customer service, planning, and finance teams to align sourcing strategies with business objectives and operational requirements.
Establish and manage supplier performance frameworks, including governance structures, scorecards, business reviews, and continuous improvement programs.
Support warehouse transitions, new site implementations, network optimization projects, and 3PL onboarding activities.
Drive sustainability, risk management, and compliance initiatives across logistics operations and supplier networks.

Requirements:

University degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) or equivalent professional experience.
4+ years of experience in Strategic sourcing or category management experience.
Experience with RFQs/RFPs, negotiations, and contract management.
Exposure to TCO-driven decision-making.
Strong exposure to road transport and time-critical logistics; air freight experience is a plus.
Solid understanding of Indirect Spend Categories, Pricing Mechanisms, and Cost Drivers.
Strong analytical and stakeholder communication skills.
Comfortable working in international, matrix-driven organizations.
Fluent in English, Spanish or another language is an advantage.
Execution-oriented with a strong operational mindset.
Structured, pragmatic, and resilient in fast-paced environments.

What We Offer

We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The salary range for Chicago Metro Area is $120,000 to $170,000, plus individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, qualifications, skills, location and applicable employment laws.
