Role Purpose
The Senior Consultant, Professional Services (HR Services & Benefits Sourcing) is responsible for delivering strategic sourcing and procurement support to key clients across HR-related spend categories. The role focuses on identifying opportunities to create value through effective category management, supplier optimization, commercial negotiations, and market intelligence. Working closely with client stakeholders, the consultant will lead end-to-end sourcing initiatives across HR Services and HR Benefits while ensuring alignment with business objectives and procurement best practices. The successful candidate will combine strong procurement expertise with a highly consultative approach to drive measurable business outcomes, mitigate risk, and foster long-term supplier partnerships. As a trusted advisor, the consultant will play a critical role in shaping category strategies and supporting clients in achieving their broader talent, workforce, and organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end sourcing projects across Professional Services categories, with a focus on HR Services and HR Benefits.
- Partner with business stakeholders to understand requirements, define sourcing strategies, and shape demand.
- Develop and execute RFIs, RFQs, and RFPs, including evaluation criteria and supplier selection methodologies.
- Conduct market analysis, supplier benchmarking, and industry trend assessments to support procurement decisions.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships across HR Services, Benefits, Talent Acquisition, Payroll, Learning, and Consulting categories.
- Perform commercial and financial analyses, including cost benchmarking, TCO assessments, and savings identification.
- Lead contract negotiations covering pricing, service levels, deliverables, commercial terms, and risk mitigation.
- Collaborate with Legal, Finance, and business stakeholders to ensure governance and compliance requirements are met.
- Present sourcing recommendations and business cases to senior client stakeholders and leadership teams.
- Support continuous improvement of category strategies, supplier ecosystems, and procurement best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum 4 years of sourcing, procurement, or category management experience.
- Minimum 2 years of direct sourcing experience in HR Benefits categories (mandatory requirement).
- Proven experience sourcing HR Services, such as Benefits Administration, Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development, Payroll, HR Technology, or Workforce Solutions.
- Strong understanding of Professional Services sourcing methodologies and supplier management practices.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex RFx processes and supplier evaluations.
- Solid commercial acumen with experience in contract negotiations and financial analysis.
- Ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders in client-facing environments.
- Experience working cross-functionally with Legal, Finance, HR, and Procurement teams.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship management skills.

Chicago salary range: $110,000 - $145,000, plus eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus. Compensation is based on experience, qualifications, location, and applicable regulations.
