POSITION SUMMARY
The Presentation Designer is a pivotal creative role within the Marketing & Communications function. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development, production, and quality assurance of high-calibre visual presentations and communication materials across the organization's global operations. This role demands an exceptional command of Microsoft PowerPoint and related presentation technologies, combined with a sophisticated understanding of brand governance, executive communication standards, and the principles of visual storytelling in a professional services context.
The Presentation Designer will collaborate closely with senior leadership, client-facing teams, and the broader Marketing, Branding and Communications function to ensure all presentation assets are consistent, compelling, and aligned with the organization's strategic positioning and brand identity.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Presentation Design & Production
- Design and produce a high volume of professionally formatted Microsoft PowerPoint presentations across multiple template formats, including executive briefings, client pitches, board decks, and internal communications.
- Develop, maintain, and enforce master slide templates, theme files (.thmx), and corporate style libraries within PowerPoint, ensuring pixel-perfect alignment with brand guidelines.
- Apply advanced PowerPoint features including custom animations, slide masters, layout hierarchies, SmartArt customization, data visualization via charts, and complex table formatting.
- Convert raw content, data, and stakeholder briefs into clear, structured, visually engaging presentations suitable for C-suite and board-level audiences.
- Produce presentation variants optimized for multiple contexts including on-screen delivery, printed output, and PDF distribution.
Brand Governance & Quality Assurance
- Act as the primary custodian of presentation brand standards, conducting quality reviews of all outgoing presentation materials prior to client or executive distribution.
- Ensure strict adherence to corporate typography, color palettes, iconography, logo usage, and layout grids across all presentation assets.
- Develop and maintain a library of approved presentation components, icon sets, diagram templates, and reusable design modules.
- Provide remediation and reformatting of legacy or non-compliant presentation files to bring them into alignment with current brand standards.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Project Management
- Partner with business development, client services, and senior leadership teams to interpret briefs and translate complex narratives into effective visual communication.
- Manage multiple concurrent presentation projects, prioritizing workload effectively and communicating proactively regarding timelines and delivery.
- Liaise with external print vendors, digital production partners, and AV providers where required.
- Provide guidance and informal coaching to colleagues on effective use of presentation tools and brand standards.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Stay abreast of emerging trends in presentation design, data visualization, and executive communication to continuously elevate the quality and impact of organizational materials.
- Explore and evaluate new tools, plugins, and workflows to enhance presentation production efficiency without compromising quality.
- Contribute to the development of an internal Design System inclusive of presentation standards, templates, and usage guidelines.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Education
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional qualification in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Media Arts, or a closely related discipline.
- Formal training or recognized certification in Microsoft Office application design is advantageous.
Professional Experience
- Minimum of four (4) years of demonstrable experience in a presentation design, visual communication, or graphic design role, ideally within a professional services, financial services, or consulting environment.
- Proven track record of designing executive-level and client-facing presentations for senior stakeholders.
- Portfolio demonstrating exceptional command of PowerPoint-based design across a variety of formats and industries.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
Microsoft PowerPoint — Advanced Proficiency Required
- Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint (Microsoft 365 / Office 2019+), including the design and management of Slide Masters, Layout Masters, and Notes Masters.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and distribute custom PowerPoint theme files (.thmx) and template files (.potx) for enterprise-wide adoption.
- Advanced competency in PowerPoint's Animation and Transition engine for the creation of sophisticated, non-distracting motion in executive presentations.
- Proficiency in embedding and formatting Microsoft Office Charts (bar, line, waterfall, scatter, combo) and designing custom data tables directly within PowerPoint.
- Skilled use of PowerPoint's SmartArt framework, including customization beyond default layouts, and manual diagram construction using shape tools.
- Experience with PowerPoint Add-ins and productivity tools such as Think-Cell, BrightSlide, or OfficeTimeline for accelerated chart and timeline production.
- Competency in preparing and exporting presentations in formats appropriate for a range of end uses, including .pptx, .ppsx (kiosk mode), .pdf, and image exports (.png/.jpg per slide).
- Familiarity with file-size optimization techniques for large PowerPoint files, including image compression, media embedding best practices, and font embedding.
Supporting Design & Office Tools
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop, for the creation and optimization of assets for PowerPoint integration.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat Pro for the production and editing of presentation-derived PDF documents.
- Competency in Microsoft Word and Excel to support the reformatting of associated documents and the sourcing of data for visualization.
- Familiarity with SharePoint and OneDrive for collaborative file management and template distribution.
- Experience with Canva for Business or equivalent cloud-based design platforms for ancillary materials is desirable.
