Role Purpose

To provide operational support for ESG initiatives by ensuring data accuracy, reporting consistency, and alignment with sustainability objectives. The role enables effective execution of ESG strategies and supports continuous improvement across environmental, social, and governance areas.

 

Responsibilities

The ESG Operational Support Consultant needs to be a dynamic, highly client-focused individual with proven experience within operational support functions, ideally in a shared services or service delivery environment. While direct ESG experience is a plus, it is not mandatory. A high-level understanding of supply chain / SourceToPay processes is important, along with a proactive mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to navigate cross-functional collaboration.

 

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Conduct ESG measures for sourcing projects incl. vendor (re)assessments, improvement plans and exception handling .
  • Analyze and apply client-specific sustainability and compliance policies based on the vendor’s category and risk profile, determining which requirements must be implemented.
  • Evaluate vendor-submitted documentation to assess alignment with applicable ESG policies.
  • Review environmental and social risk ratings and relevance factors for procurement categories and apply contractual sustainability requirements. 
  • Maintain up-to-date records of tasks, assessments, and decisions — using the existing the approved processes and systems.
  • Ad-hoc, ‘on demand’ and project-based analysis, research, insight provision for our clients.
  • Oversee projects independently, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards. 
  • Conduct training of sourcing specialists for corresponding ESG services globally. 
  • Reporting to client.
  • Present information and processes for the client’s ISO 14001 audits.

 

 

Other responsibilities

  • Conduct sustainability research for sourcing projects.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation, digitalization, AI implementation and proactively drive continuous improvement in ESG and RSCM department’s processes and practices.

Serve as a role model for the team, exemplifying Chain IQ values and maintaining high standards of performance and professionalism 

  • Stay up-to-date with global sustainability trends, regulations, and industry best practices, providing strategic guidance and recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders.

 

 

 

 

Requirements

  • Proven experience in an operational support role, preferably within a shared services, sourcing, or service delivery environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Exposure to ESG, sustainability, or responsible sourcing topics is an advantage, but not mandatory.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office and AI tools.
  • Experience handling large volumes of data and documentation with a high level of accuracy; proficiency in Excel is preffered.
  • Familiarity with reporting tools, ticketing platforms, or dashboards is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret sustainability and compliance requirements in the context of procurement or vendor management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly document findings and interact professionally with internal teams and external clients.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and comfortable navigating complex internal processes and documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across functions, particularly with sourcing, compliance, and audit teams.
  • Open and adaptable mindset with a willingness to learn ESG frameworks, tools, and guidelines on the job.
  • Comfortable performing repetitive operational tasks with consistency, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Strong commitment to customer satisfaction and service excellence.
  • Proven ability to manage priorities and deliver assignments on time.
  • High degree of reliability, accountability, and consistency in performance.
