About the Role

The Tactical Sourcing Specialist – Logistics is responsible for executing sourcing initiatives, rate analysis, and supplier performance management for transportation and warehousing services supporting a company within the Food & Beverage Ingredients industry, with a strong focus on Taste & Nutrition solutions distribution network focused in the United States.

This role combines strong analytical capability with hands-on sourcing execution, ensuring competitive rates, accurate cost modeling, capacity continuity, and operational responsiveness in a fast-paced industrial distribution environment.

The position works closely with US-based strategic sourcing, logistics operations, finance, and distribution teams.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute RFQs, spot bids, mini-tenders, and rate events for:
    • FTL and LTL transportation
    • Parcel and regional carriers
    • Intermodal (where applicable)
    • Ambient and overflow warehousing services
  • Support contract renewals and pricing updates in line with approved category strategies.
  • Assist in onboarding new carriers and warehouse providers.
  • Cleanse, transform, and structure large datasets to support sourcing decisions.
  • Build and conduct sourcing events (RFx) including e-Auctions.
  • Build and maintain detailed cost models for transportation and warehousing (fuel, accessorials, labor, capacity, lane density).
  • Perform total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis across lanes, carriers, and warehouse options.
  • Analyze freight spend, rate cards, contract compliance, and savings performance.
  • Identify cost anomalies, margin leakage, and optimization opportunities.
  • Develop dashboards and reports to track savings vs target, service performance, and rate trends.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes with data-backed insights.
  • Support the development and execution of comprehensive transport and warehousing, focusing on optimization, integrating sustainable solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand their logistics needs, ensuring alignment with broader business objectives and drive project implementation.
  • Analyze market trends and supplier performance to ensure competitive pricing, quality, and reliability.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives and process improvements.
  • Engage with new and existing suppliers to negotiate contracts that align with our goals.
  • Manage supplier relationships, ensuring compliance, performance, and goals for continuous improvement.

 

Requirements:

  • 2-4 years of experience in the logistics industry, either in a sourcing role or an industry-specific position, with a strong understanding of the transport-warehouse industry and cost models.
  • Expertise in evaluating and improving transport and warehouse operations implementing cost-effective / sustainable solutions.
  • Proven negotiation skills with a track record of securing favorable terms that align with business objectives.
  • Experience in building, managing and translating complex datasets into relevant actionable information.
  • Proven experience in contribution to continuous improvement of data processes and reporting standards.
  • Comfortable working in a global setup, with a deep understanding of various international markets, particularly in EMEA, Americas, APAC.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish wanted; French, German or another European language is an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel to suppliers and distribution centers as needed to ensure quality and supply chain efficiency.
