About the role:

The Strategic Sourcing Manager – Transport & Warehouse / Team Lead Logistics is accountable for developing and executing category strategies for logistics services across the clients manufacturing and operational footprint. This includes transportation (FTL, LTL, intermodal where applicable) and warehousing solutions (ambient, temperature-controlled, and value-added services).

The role drives sustainable value creation through cost optimization, supply continuity, supplier innovation, and risk mitigation, while ensuring full compliance with the clients safety, quality, sustainability, and regulatory standards within a food and nutrition manufacturing environment.

In addition to category ownership, the role acts as team lead for the Logistics sourcing category, providing functional leadership, direction, and capability development to sourcing professionals supporting the category.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, own and implement end-to-end category strategies for logistics (transportation and warehouse), (FTL/LTL), intermodal where applicable, and warehousing (ambient, temperature-controlled, value-added services), aligned with Group’s global procurement objectives.
  • Deliver measurable value through cost savings, demand management, specification harmonization, and supplier consolidation.
  • Lead should-cost analyses, total cost of ownership (TCO) modeling, and benchmarking initiatives.
  • Identify, qualify, and manage strategic suppliers and regional partners to ensure continuity of supply and competitive advantage.
  • Lead RFPs, RFQs, and contract negotiations, including pricing structures, SLAs, safety standards, and service levels.
  • Act as a trusted procurement partner to plant engineering, maintenance, EHS, operations, and quality teams.
  • Drive alignment between local site needs and regional/global sourcing strategies.
  • Lead and develop the Logistics sourcing team, setting clear objectives, priorities, and performance expectations.
  • Provide coaching, guidance, and functional expertise to build category and sourcing capabilities.
  • Foster collaboration across regions and ensure consistent application of sourcing processes and standards.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for complex commercial or supplier-related issues within the category.

 

Requirements:

  • University degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5–7+ years of experience in strategic sourcing or category management, ideally within FMCG, food manufacturing, pharma, or industrial environments
  • Proven experience managing transport, warehouse and consumables categories.
  • Team leadership experience.
  • Strong track record of negotiations, cost savings delivery, and supplier management
  • Experience operating in multi-site, matrixed organizations
  • Strong analytical and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Execution-oriented with a strong operational mindset.
  • Structured, pragmatic, and resilient in fast-paced environments.

What We Offer
We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The salary range for New York City Metro Area is $120,000 to $170,000, plus individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, qualifications, skills, location and applicable employment laws. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical, vision and dental coverage, 401(k), and a wide range of paid time off options.
